Options Explained
Here you can confirm what you get as standard when you register a name through FrostByte and you can also find out aboput the optional extras that are available to you.
Features of all Registrations
- Email Forwarding
- Forwards all the email sent to your new domain to your existing email account whatever ID is used ! i.e. sales@yourname.com, john@yourname.com etc. You can also buy batches of 5 ID's for £10 per year that can forward to separate email accounts for greater flexibility.
- Web Forwarding
- Works with any web space, even free web space where the ISP wil not assist you with server configuration of your domain name. Using the masking option your web site can apear to be at www.yourname.com instead of www.some-isp.com/members/john/index.cfm but your web site physically stays where it has always been ! Alternatively you can have web forwarding without masking, this way www.yourname.com gets people to your web site but upon arrival your true web site address remains visible.
- Holding Page
- If you don´t want to use your name yet the holding page lets everyryone know it's registered.
- Ownership
- You have full ownership or rights to the name.
- No Hidden Fees
- Should you at any time choose to transfer the name to another registrar or hosting company we will not charge you any transfer fees. Make sure the host you transfer to does not charge you for accepting the transfer !
- NIC Registration Fees
- The price you pay us includes the NIC fees (Nominet, ICANN or CIRA) for the period of your registration (usually one or two years).
Additional Extras Even though you only pay our low prices, you still get all the basic benefits for free. But we understand that sometimes you may want something extra and we aim to provide you with these at low cost.
- Additional Email
- You get five email forwarding addresses with each domain (see separately for .WS & .CC doamins). If you have a need for lots of different email addresses you can purchase more in batches of five for £5 per year.
- Canonical Domains
- If you have more than one department you can purchase a domain for each, but a far more cost effective option is to have a canonical domain set up for each department. e.g. you have the name www.yourcompany.com so you can then have sales.yourcompany.com, billing.yourcompany.com etc for each department ! Each canonical domain costs £5 per year.
Self Managed DNS For an additional fee of £20 per year (£25 if you keep your domain with another registrar), you can get access to your own control panel. This service is also available if you domain is registered elseware but the fee would then be £25 per year, of course, if you choose to transfer the name to us you would pay the lower fee. Either way, you get the following useful benefits:
- You are in Control
- If you need to update your DNS and forwarding settings often then this option gives you access to a control panel allowing you to change your settings anytime, as often as you want.
- Unlimited Entries
- Set up as many Web and Email forwardings and as many DNS entries as you need.
- Freedom
- Don´t be the prisoner of an unresponsive hosting company, now you can simply upload your site elseware and change your DNS to the new hosting comapanys servers yourself, without needing the cooperation of the old host and without having to have your domain name settings changed at the registry.
